Following on from the madness of REGGAE ROOM we have another BIG NIGHT looming – Brighton is a callin’! It’s our first SCALLYWAG PARTY, a night of Reggae, Dub & Dance, live bands, djs, MCs, Sound System. From the Scallywags themselves here’s some of what’s in store:
‘A funky Febru-reggae party with some of the hottest underground live roots the south has to offer, come join the Scallywag skank out.
Expect fine offerings from across the roots spectrum providing the perfect sound track for the Scallywag family. If you’re yet to experience one of our parties then now is the time to get involved, it’s a friendly, all inclusive event – we bring together a unique showcase of our favourite independent festival acts and DJ’s from across the UK.
This is a glorious beachfront bash with sofa sea views – WE bring the music, YOU bring the party! The vibes are high!’
Doors at 8pm, First live act on before 9pm, live music until late, DJ’s until 2am.
MIGHTY SOUNDS – Hastings-based reggae & dancehall with their own original tunes & riddims. Mighty Sounds are a highly professional and established act, sharing stages with the likes of Ziggy Marley, Aswad, David Rodigan & the Mad Professor.
TENBAG SOUND SYSTEM – A varied mix of reggae, hip hop, TenBag Sound System have brought their sound to festivals in the UK & Europe.
NYMAN – Samsara Collective frontman looping up lush skanking reggae vibes to maximum effect.
DJ MYSIDES – The Scallywag Party regular will be stepping up to give us a full power drum & bass mashup finale til 2am.
MR UNITY – The host with the most and the biggest smile in the scallywag family with his carefully curated awesome choons and chat.
FULL CIRCLE SOUND SYSTEM and DJ’s – We’re bringing back the Full Circle stage rig!

Venue – We’re taking over the Whitecliffs beachfront cafe bar, bringing in our sound system & raising the roof in a way this venue has never seen before. It’s well worth the trek – we have the beach on our doorstep, a long live music hall bar & lots of covered outdoor space with comfy sofas looking out to sea.
Transport from central Brighton:
Bus – We’re on the beach in Saltdean, East Brighton, so there’s many buses from all over Brighton getting there (12, 12A, 14, 14B, 14C, 27) and night buses (N12 & N14) from just outside the venue to take you back between midnight and 3am. The journey is between 20-30 mins, the stop is Longridge Avenue, from there just walk down onto the beach and you can’t miss Whitecliffs.
Car – There’s lots of free overnight parking without a height restriction in the Lido car park or in the carvery car park if the Lido one is full. There’s a pedestrian tunnel under the road to the beach.
But what is the Scallywag Party? If you’re yet to have the pleasure of hanging out in a field with us at one of our previous festivals then expect awesome live music, laughter, smiles, chilled days, magic nights, tomfoolery & togetherness.
Our music policy is always eclectic & good time invoking. Expect Reggae, Afrobeat, Power Folk, Gypsy, Dub, Electronica & everything in between. In true Scallywag Party style, expect to be entertained, enlivened and enlightened!
